Terrell Owens Poem

Terrell, Terrell, your new legacy
Will be that you swallowed those pills with such ease.
And who placed that call to emergency,
Was your publicist just seeking publicity?

She knew just how the press would act,
Getting the story, then getting the facts.
Did they really blow it all up,
Or were you just fast enough to throw it all up?

Breaking your hand did bring some attention,
But when the game was back on you’d have hardly a mention.
Coming back Sunday was all part of the plan,
Clean out the system and they’d see a new man.

Maybe she thought that all of the frenzy
Would help make your teammates more green with envy.
Touting depression as the reason
Might get you more play for the rest of the season.

Sadly enough, despite your denial
Time will tell what stays in your file.
You may always have a truly great gift
But what the media paints is what will stay with.

The toughest truth about it all
Is that we love to watch our heroes fall.
Perceptions are factless, truth isn’t the rule.
Next time try to spin it so you’re not such a fool.
